Market research ski resorts in South Korea, trade mission to Italy


Pyeongchang, South Korea has applied for the 2018 Winter Olympics. In this context our client, a trade promotion organization from Northern Italy, commissioned us to carry out a market research to summarize general information about the growing ski industry in South Korea and to provide specific information about existing ski resorts and potential procurement opportunities related to the Korean bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

In a next step Dr. Baumer Consultants and its Korean partner recruited fifteen potential buyers from South Korea to participate in a mission to Northern Italy to meet with selected winter technology companies. The mission was a clear success, not only for our client, but also for the winter technology companies from our client�s region, because they got access to real business opportunities in the South Korean market.

Export promotion for a major European ICT cluster


On behalf of a regional development agency, Dr. Baumer Consultants supported best-in-class, innovative ICT companies from our client's region in the German market. The companies offered products and services targeting a variety of vertical markets, e.g. advanced manufacturing & automation technologies, automotive, banking & financial, creative industries, energy & environmental technologies, IT services, healthcare & medical technologies, (mobile) communications, security, transport & rail. Our services for individual companies included:

Roadshow for a Clean Technology Showcase City


The brief was to promote our client's Clean Technology Showcase City in Germany and Switzerland and to make market participants aware of business opportunites resulting from a number of demonstrator projects in this showcase city. An additional objective was to attract inward investment to the city in the middle to longer term, since cleantech companies are expected to assume an increasing share of the newcomer businesses in the region.

For this purpose, Dr. Baumer Consultants organized a one-week roadshow in Germany and Switzerland for our client's representatives. The program included meetings with

  • companies, which offer advanced technologies and services related to smart grids, e-metering, e-mobility, sustainable buildings, waste to energy, etc.

  • multipliers like environmental sector consortia and one of the German Clean Technology Showcase cities

Immediate outcomes of the roadshow were that several company representatives decided to visit our client's city within the subsequent weeks, in order to discuss business opportunities and engagement in demonstrator projects. Because of the real business potential, it can be expected that some of these companies will see a need to be present locally, i.e. that this will lead to additional foreign direct investment in our client's region.

Advice on FDI marketing strategy for the Life Sciences sector


Our client, the regional development agency of a major European location for pharmaceuticals and medical technologies, commissioned us to develop a focused marketing strategy to attract new foreign direct investment from the German Life Sciences market.

We provided our client with valuable insights of strategic importance, e.g.

Roadshow for a South Korean Free Economic Zone


Our client, a Free Economic Zone Authority from South Korea, was aiming at promoting their region and its opportunities in Germany and Switzerland to attract foreign direct investment.

The main focus was on companies from the machinery, advanced engineering and automotive sectors. Dr. Baumer Consultants organized a one-week roadshow for our client's representatives. The program of the roadshow included meetings with companies with concrete interest in expanding into the region. During the meetings the companies' decision makers had the chance to discuss their individual business opportunities in the South Korean market.

As a result of the roadshow our client could fill their sales pipeline with new promising direct investment prospects.
